Preparing for a Stargazing Adventure
- We will be in constant communication by phone and Email prior to an event in order to make for a well coordinated and smooth flowing scheduled session.
- We will typically arrive about 30-40 minutes prior to a scheduled viewing session in order to familiarize himself with the lay of the land, and to coordinate the stargazing session with any other activities that might be going on.
- The telescope and equipment weigh about 200 pounds and require that we be able to drive close to the set up location. After equipment set up, our vehicle can be parked elsewhere.
- It takes approx. 30 minutes to set up the telescope and be ready for viewing to begin, but this is all done prior to your scheduled session.
- During the late Fall, Winter, and early Spring months, guests should dress warmly. The body cools easily when you are standing still so it will always feel colder than it actually is.
- The host should do their best in arranging for the site to be as dark as possible by extinguishing or covering outdoor lighting. If the site is on a lawn, the host should make sure that the lawn sprinklers are turned off.
- When viewing through the telescope, some guest and children may need to use a step stool that we provide. We strive to keep your adventure exciting and safe, so expect our help while climbing the step stool. We ask that parents help their smaller children with a boost to the eyepiece if necessary.
- One of the hardest thing for guest to get used to is to not grab on to any part of the telescope as this may move it out of alignment and delay viewing for the next person while the telescope is re-aligned.
- For some events where there are a number of people that might have difficulty looking through the eyepiece of the telescope, we will set up an electronic eyepiece and feed the view to a monitor for all to see.
- If you are having trouble seeing something through the eyepiece, please let us know so that we can assist you and make the night enjoyable for every person.
